One of two textile prints in our latest collaboration with the estate of renowned architect and designer Alexander Girard, Village (1945) exemplifies Girard’s prophetic design style. Despite being designed nearly 80 years ago, Village and its bold, graphic elements looks incredibly contemporary. This print was originally developed by Girard during his tenure as the Head of Fabric and Textile Division at Herman Miller as upholstery fabric, and was offered in a variety of colorways.
To continue Girard’s emphasis of quality craftsmanship, we had Villagemeticulously reengineered by one of our Italian partner mills on a summer-weight 100% cotton poplin. Each color was matched to their original Pantones and extra care was taken to ensure pigments hold fast and resist bleeding.
