Some collaborations are born from spur of the moment ideas, while others are derived from deep-rooted creative relationships. Our latest project with AWMS was born from the latter, 15 years after our first project with Anthony Madsen Sylvester, the founder and creative mind behind AWMS.

Combining our shared interests of deep cultural references, historic imagery, and menswear's pluralistic pedigree, the Sausalito Camp Shirt arrives by way of Ramsgate, a small coastal town on the English Channel where Sylvester resides. Flush with a history of maritime craftspeople, Ramsgate has long inspired Sylvester's approach to functionality, taste, and design.

Sausalito stems from these principles, but more specifically, a single photograph Sylvester encountered during his ongoing creative research. In his own words:

"The oversized mid century fish design was inspired by a chance spot of a salty dog resplendent in Bermudas and captain hat, cig on the go crewing his fishing boat on the glistening tide. The fish motif is popular in the paintings and pottery that inspired this season's direction, and the Gitman team designed and commissioned a unique pattern on fine Italian poplin for the collaboration.
