A more nuanced interpretation of workwear’s favorite fabric, our Japanese-woven “Silk Denim” blends 82% cotton with 18% silk. Contrary to silk’s delicate reputation, the fiber actually boasts greater tensile strength than cotton, adding another measure of durability to an already hardwearing cloth.
But, to be frank, durability isn’t what excites us most. Left raw and untreated, the silk fibers are naturally matte and irregularly slubbed, lending the denim remarkable texture and character. They also soften the hand and give the fabric an easier, more fluid drape than traditional all-cotton denim. Familiar at first glance, decidedly different upon closer inspection.
As an added bonus, silk also wicks moisture far better than cotton. So, if you do find yourself working up a sweat, this shirt will actually function much better as a workwear piece.
