A True Master

Our ongoing collaboration with the Alexander Girard estate celebrates the work of one of the most influential American designers of the twentieth century. Known for his bold use of color and joyful graphic forms, Girard helped shape the visual language of Mid-Century Modernism through a multidisciplinary practice spanning textiles, furniture, typography, and branding.

Much of his most celebrated work emerged during his tenure as head of textile design at Herman Miller. During this period, Girard created more than 300 original textile and print designs, each carefully documented through swatches, weaving specifications, and detailed production notes.

Our collaboration draws directly from this extraordinary textile archive. Faithfully recreated from Girard’s original records, these prints bring his enduring work into the language of American shirting, offering a new way to experience one of the most influential voices in modern design.
