Spun from 100% baby alpaca fibers, our yarn is one of the highest performing materials we've ever encountered. For starters, baby alpaca is much warmer than cashmere due to its hollow structure. Air isn't just trapped amongst the fibers, it's also trapped inside for increased insulation. Baby alpaca fibers are also much stronger thanks to an incredible length of 6.5" per strand. By contrast, cashmere tops out at 1.5" per strand at the very highest grade. Longer fibers interlock more frequently, which increases durability through friction rather than bulk. This also allows for impressive natural stretch without the risk of tearing.

And when it comes to softness, the two are remarkably similar. While cashmere fibers are slightly finer on average, baby alpaca achieves a comparable feel thanks to its flat, smooth microscopic "scales." Because tactile softness depends more on the smoothness of the fiber’s surface than its diameter, the difference between cashmere and baby alpaca is virtually indistinguishable to the touch.
