Cut from our heaviest fabric of the season, our Black Slubbed Twill Check clocks in at a staggering 9oz per yard. It’s warm, it’s cozy, and it continues our tradition of leveraging fabric to differentiate our shirts. Leaning into local textile traditions, our Japanese partner mill created this fabric with some of the slubbiest yarns we’ve ever encountered. In fact, all that chunky slub tangibly increases the weight and warmth of the fabric. A minimalist black and white color treatment further maintains a quintessentially Japanese approach to textiles

We have partnered with the same Japanese fabric mill for more than a decade now, tasking them with creating unconventional fabrics from the get go. This fabric is a perfect example of experimentation taken to the utmost echelon. It started with a simple conversation: “let’s make a really slubby flannel” we said, and our partner mill responded “like, really really slubby?”, “yup!” The result is a fabric with yarns so slubby that their gauge varies six-fold throughout each individual strand. It’s a bit nuts, but we love the texture these whacky yarns impart onto the fabric. -
