One of winter's most utilitarian pieces, a warm crewneck sweater is indispensable when temperatures drop. Our Cabin Sweater rises to the occasion with heritage, chunky-knit charm and a uniquely blended yarn, offering both comfort and referential style in equal measure.

Knit at our partner mill in Peru, our Cabin Sweater features many of the same characteristics of previous GV sweaters, but with a few distinguished updates. To start, a redesigned silhouette and double layer crewneck collar reference some of our favorite hand-knit vintage knitwear pieces. Boxier, heritage proportions compliment the heavy-gauge yarns and add freedom of movement where you need it. After all, a sweater should be as comfortable as it looks!

Reinforcing this idea is a newly developed 3gg yarn that blends Suri alpaca and merino wools with a touch of nylon. Why the blend? Each fiber plays a crucial role: alpaca provides unparalleled softness, warmth, and durability; merino wicks moisture and breaths when needed; nylon adds just enough internal structure to prevent excess stretching over extended use. In other words, it's the yarn of our dreams! Garments are only as good as the materials that make them, and we couldn't be happier with how this yarn turned out.

As with all of our knitwear, the Cabin sweater uses wools sourced from a set of small scale, indigenous owned farms in the Peruvian highlands where alpaca and sheep graze freely. In addition to fair trade certification, our wools are also certified by OEKO-TEX, meeting the highest standards of textile non-toxicity. 

As with any knit item, our Cabin Sweater will age the most elegantly with knitwear-specific care and washing.
