Some formal occasions call for a level of sophistication that even the most crisply pressed Cambridge Oxford can’t quite achieve. From black-tie weddings and galas to your tween cousin’s mitzvah, life is full of moments where casual attire is best left at home. And although we’re huge fans of “dressing up” our button-downs, sometimes that just won’t cut it.
Meet our new Dress Shirt.
Designed with luxury and poise in mind, our dress shirt model offers a tangible step up from any of our other shirts and sits in a category of its own. Handmade mother-of-pearl buttons sourced from Italy set a high bar, while a proportional 2.5” medium spread collar frames the face, or necktie, just right. And while the collar and cuffs are lined for shape, we opted for a soft lining for all-day comfort. On the rear, streamlined knife-pleats allow for freedom of movement while keeping things sleek.
At the heart of it all is our proprietary Pinpoint Oxford fabric. Densely woven with a high thread count, its weight sits between our classic Cambridge Oxford and our featherlight Zephyr Oxford. All in, it offers an elevated take on our favorite fabric and resides in a luxurious category new to the GV lineup.

Though there are many Pinpoint Oxfords on the market, ours was developed with the sole intention of being a dress shirt fabric. With that in mind, our Portuguese partner mill helped us create a textile that combines the most important factors of any good dress fabric: smoothness, balanced weight, and wrinkle resistance. To achieve each characteristic, we opted for 80's singles yarns and a dense basket weave. These yarns are not only twice as fine as those used in our Cambridge Oxford, but they're also woven much tighter against each other. Together, this produces a smoother yet equally robust finish that resists wrinkles and feels softer on the skin. It's also lighter by weight, which maintains breathability—a much needed function for formal events that often occur inside or during the warmer months.
