A nod to the infinitely tangled history of American and Japanese style, this White Striped Japanese Oxford arrives as an embrace of Amekaji style. For those unfamiliar, Amekaji is the Japanese reinterpretation of popular 20th century American clothing styles like Ivy and workwear. Since its inception in the 1960's, it's now established as a bonafide stylistic language of its own.
As Americans ourselves, we were thrilled to find this Japanese-woven Oxford cloth with its refreshingly Amekaji interpretation of one of our favorite fabrics. Though its stripes reference classic American sportswear, a pre-wash treatment leaves this fabric with an Amekaji twist. Subtly crinkled, it's presented with a vintaged appearance and appears immediately broken-in. Large gauge yarns augment the weave to become chunkier and more robust throughout.
